            CLINICAL

            Anne Arundel Medical Center
Ten weeks of my clinical rotation were spent at Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) in Annapolis, MD. During this time, I provided nutrition management (including assessment and counseling) for a variety of patients in critical care and the general medical and surgical units, including a two week clinical staff relief rotation where I saw an average of 8-14 in-patients daily. I also became more familiar with the Nutrition Care Process (including Standardized Language), Problem Etiology and Symptoms (PES) Statements, the Nutrition Care Manual, and documenting patient care in an electronic record system.

            Good Samaritan Hospital
Two weeks of my clinical rotation were spent at Good Samaritan Hospital (Good Sam), a community teaching hospital, where RDs have order writing privileges for Total Parental Nutrition (TPN) and Enteral Nutrition (EN). While at Good Sam, I enhanced my skills in nutrition support  and in documenting in a paper chart.

            Children's National Medical Center
Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) is the only exclusive provider of pediatric care in the metropolitan Washington area. While at Children’s, I completed nutritional assessments; developed nutritional recommendations; provided nutrition education; documented in the paper chart; and attended rounds.

            Bon Secours Renal Dialysis Center
The Bon Secours Renal Dialysis Center provides dialysis services to patients in the Baltimore City area. located in the Bon Secours Hospital, provides life-sustaining treatment to patients in the Baltimore City area who require renal dialysis, acute dialysis, home hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. During this rotation, I collaborated with the RDs and other members of the medical team in weekly anemia and PTH rounds; contributed recommendations for adjustment in Procrit and Vitamin D based on assessment of lab reports; and provided nutritional counseling to patients in the dialysis unit.
