FOOD SERVICE MANAGEMENT
University of Maryland Dining Services
University of Maryland Dining Services operates in a variety of venues on campus including dining halls, convenience shops, catering, restaurants, cafes, food delivery service and and concessions. While at UMD Dining, I participated in many aspects of the operation including: creating posters with nutrition, physical activity, and healthy cooking messages for the Employee Wellness Wall as part of the “Call to Wellness” Program; writing articles for the employee newsletter; conducting a Student Customer Survey and SWOT Analysis; and assisting with the preparation and serving of meals.
Riderwood- an Erickson Retirement Community, Dining Services
There are five different restaurants across Riderwood, The Windsor Room, Fireside, Seasons, Potomac Café, and the Overlook, each professionally staffed and overseen by an Executive Chef. During our time at Riderwood, we were able to work with Chefs, cooks, managers and other staff in several of the restaurants. Our responsibilities included: busing tables, serving residents, and food preparation in the kitchen. We developed and implemented a Theme Meal for 160 persons including community members and staff; conducted a SWOT Analysis; and updated Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) book for each of the five kitchens.
